Fabulous review from The Jeep Diva…
I’ve just finished reading Rich Tapestry and I’m trying to put my finger on what is different about it from the previous book #1s in the Black Combe set. Different isn’t bad so don’t take it as a slam. I think it’s because I knew all the characters coming in that I wasn’t initially surprised. Ms. Barker has done a great job blending the same scenes from several different POVs from each book. It most certainly filled me with many ‘AHA!’ and “Oh so THAT’S what happened’ moments. On to the characters.
Summer – she has interesting connections to some of the other characters. Her I alternated between wanting to shake and wanting to protect. Either way she definitely has some serious issues to work on and Dan’s the man to help her out with it. Hello Dan! *Purrs* Sexy Dom, veterinarian and he’s whose brother?! How did I miss that from before?! The connection between them is more than mouthwatering yummy. Summer just needs to work out her sub side with her OCD. Something tells me the further we get into the series the more intense her issues will get. Can’t wait! As for Rich Tapestry, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just can’t decide if it’s Summer and Dan’s story or the interaction from all the previous characters together that I got a kick out of more.
I know I have mentioned this before but the covers that Ms. Barker uses on all her books play a key role in clues to the story. Usually they make more sense AFTER I finish each book. Peeking at the cover to the next book in the series…I just KNOW things are gonna get real interesting.
Okay folks, if you haven’t started reading any of the series in Ms. Barker’s Black Combe set (The Dark Side, Sure Mastery, The Hardest Word) now is the time. There’s a lot of crossover here and it’s a pleasant surprise to see how all four series mesh together. You might be able to pull the pieces of the majority of secondary characters together, but without having read any of the previous series, you won’t have a complete understanding. Once you get all those books under your belt, have a go at Rich Tapestry. You won’t be disappointed
