“I have to admit this one was a tough one to review. In the beginning I was a little nervous that I was going to be reading another version of a certain book named after varying shades of a dull color. It was certainly how the book started. However, I ended up pleasantly surprised that this was not the case.

Don’t get me wrong…this book is extremely erotic! It also had many of the same elements (and toys). But this also had a good story with characters I really liked. The author got creative with each sex scene (which there were plenty of), and I didn’t feel like I was reading the same scene each time, nor was it awkward writing. It was really well written.

Eva was a pleasant surprise, as she wasn’t very experienced in much of anything socially, and nothing sexually, but was an extremely intelligent person. The author gave plenty of instances that showed she was awkward, but too smart to be bullied or coerced into anything sexual that she wasn’t comfortable with. She was a little scared, as expected about this totally new experience, but was clear thinking.

Nathan Darke was also a VERY pleasant surprise. He wasn’t a mentally damaged guy that uses sex to take out his aggressions and feel better about himself. Nathan Darke is ENTIRELY boyfriend material! He’s rich because he’s very intelligent himself. He’s a successful businessman, super sexy (which we are fortunate enough to learn about in detail), and has a true softer side that makes you melt at times. He simply likes his sex to be a lot more than “vanilla”.

I really enjoyed the story of Nathan and Eva. How they came to meet, how they fall for each other, and how he introduces her into that whole new world….he makes it scary, exciting, and sweet all at the same time.

I did have a little trouble with how quickly their relationship progresses, but I’m sure it happens. It’s also a quick read, with a very uncomfortable cliffhanger. However, the big question is if I would read the second book, and I absolutely would….and will! Therefore it’s a well earned 4 stars, in my opinion!”

“This second entry in the The Dark Side Trilogy is just as good if not better than the first. Instead of getting some back-story then taking off, Darker begins right where Darkening left right off at (Thank God!). Boy I was not disappointed.

Holy crow! I knew Eva was intelligent but WHOA! (OK no spoiler reveals). Where in the first book I felt it was more get to know Eva story, Darker feels more evenly split between the two. The story is still told from Eva’s first person perspective but there are revelations that are more personal and soul baring from both Eva and Nathan. The sex is this second entry is bow-chica-wow-wow hot! Note to Eva – if you get tired I’ll tag in for you! Yes this is a erotic story but there is so much more than just sex. The soul baring and secret revealings have my alternating being laughing, gasping and tears.”

“This third and final entry has the least amount of sex and the most heart wrenching moments. Eva has come so far and to have an act of jealous come between then was so upsetting. This is definitely the book that made me the most emotional. Even though I feel there is less sex in this book than the previous two, the creative aspect had me liking it the best. You are so naughty and wicked Nathan! I won’t spoil the ending but I will say the journey Eva and Nathan take in Darkest easily make this my favorite of the three books. I gasp, giggled and cried. As for the end, let’s just say I couldn’t ask for a better one.”
